Karen is responsible for educational programming and corporate citizenship for Jackson EMC, the nation’s third largest electric cooperative. She has more than 25 years of experience cultivating partnerships, developing strategic programs, and creating memorable special events. She has worked in the public and private sector, including the executive branch of the federal and state government. She has served as director of operations and special events for the Tour de Georgia, trade show manager for an industrial manufacturer, and manager of events and member services for the Georgia Economic Developers Association.
 
Karen holds a B.A. in Journalism from Georgia State University and a Master in Public Administration degree from the University of Georgia. She is a Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) and earned a Certificate in Corporate Citizenship Practice from Boston College Center for Corporate Citizenship.
 
Karen serves on the advisory committee for the Gwinnett Science and Engineering Fair and the Elachee Nature Center Flights of Fancy Committee. She is a volunteer mentor for young women in high school and college. She and her daughter, Lydia, are members of Hamilton Mill United Methodist Church, where they also volunteer in the Food Pantry.
